Students of the 2016-2017 school year,
My name is Ms. Scott and I will be your AP Language and Composition, English III, and/or Yearbook teacher for this school year! I don’t think that it’s possible for me to find the right words to describe how excited I am to take on this journey with all of you. Junior year brings about an entirely new chapter, and this year has the possibility of being one of the best years of your lives. If you are willing to listen and stay on task, we can make amazing things happen. I am fully equipped to take on the mission of preparing each and every one of you to excel and find success in my classroom, in the world, and in life.
So you know a little about my background, I recently relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina in March of 2015 after graduating from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education English. Prior to attending college, I resided in Central New Jersey with my family: my parents, younger sister, Julia, and our small, fluffy white dog, Slider. I pride myself on the passion and commitment that I pour into everything that I do. I’m a Flywheel fitness fanatic, die hard Yankee fan, softball player of 19 years, fellow Gryffindor when I attended Hogwarts, lover of the beach, and now a bandwagon Carolina Panther fan!!!! My intense love of learning and teaching has brought me to Charlotte and to all of you, and I couldn’t be happier. The warm weather, friendly people, and charming city have won me over so much that I envision myself becoming a Southerner for good. This will be my second year at Hopewell High School, and I’m excited to share the experience with all of you.
I vow to be full of life, energy, and to pour my heart into every lesson of every day. I WILL lift each of you up, make you feel good about yourselves, and make you WANT to be at school by bringing learning to life. It is my job to instill a love of learning in you, like I have in me, and I do not take that responsibility lightly. I believe that the higher my expectations are for each of you, the higher results you will be able to achieve, and therefore, everyday I will make you push yourselves to be successful.
My classroom environment will be one that asks each of you to exhibit readiness, responsibility, and respect daily to make sure that you get the best education possible. I don’t care what kind of grades you have had in the past; this is a new year, a fresh start, and if you are willing to follow the rules and procedures and try your best, there is no limit to what we can all achieve together.
